Our Mission
At Llamamma Mothercare and Labor Lens, our mission is to make evidence-based birth education understandable, accessible, and practical for every family.
Pregnancy, birth, and the postpartum period are filled with important decisions. Our goal is not to tell you what to choose, but to help you understand the physiology of birth, the evidence behind common interventions, and the questions you may wish to discuss with your healthcare team.
We believe informed decisions begin with informed education.
Our Approach
Every article is written with four guiding principles:
Learn the Physiology. Before discussing an intervention, we explain what the body is doing naturally and why that matters.
Examine the Evidence. We summarize the best available research while acknowledging where evidence is strong, where it is is limited, and where uncertainty remains.
Notice Your Individual Circumstances. Recommendations often depend on an individual's health history, labor course, and personal values. We explain why healthcare providers may make different recommendations in different situations.
Share in Decision-Making. We encourage thoughtful conversations between families and their healthcare providers rather than promoting one-size-fits-all answers.
Our Sources
Whenever possible, our educational content is based on high-quality evidence, including:
-
Systematic reviews and meta-analyses
-
Clinical practice guidelines
-

-

Evidence Over Opinion
Birth is complex. Few decisions are completely black and white.
When evidence is strong, we say so.
When evidence is mixed or evolving, we say that too.
When experts disagree, we explain why.
We strive to clearly distinguish between established evidence, emerging research, clinical experience, and expert opinion.
Independence
Our educational content is created independently and is not influenced by sponsors, advertisers, or commercial partnerships.
Recommendations are based on the best available evidence at the time of publication, not on financial relationships or product endorsements.
Accuracy and Updates
Medical research continues to evolve.
Articles are periodically reviewed and updated as new evidence, clinical guidelines, and recommendations become available.
If we discover an error or outdated information, we will correct it as promptly as possible.
Respect for All Birth Experiences
Birth is deeply personal.
Families choose hospital births, birth centers, home births, planned cesarean births, medicated births, unmedicated births, inductions, and many paths in between.
Our goal is not to promote one birth setting or philosophy over another.
Instead, we aim to provide balanced, evidence-informed education that helps families understand their options and make decisions that align with their individual medical circumstances, values, and preferences.
Medical Disclaimer
The information provided by Llamamma Mothercare and Labor Lens is intended for educational purposes only.
It should not be used as a substitute for personalized medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. Every pregnancy and birth is unique. Decisions regarding your care should always be made in partnership with your physician, midwife, or other qualified healthcare professional.
Our Commitment
We believe parents deserve more than opinions, fear, or oversimplified advice.
They deserve thoughtful, balanced education grounded in science, explained with clarity, and presented in a way that empowers them to participate confidently in decisions about their care.
Our goal is to increase understanding, not anxiety.
We are committed to explaining birth physiology, interpreting the best available evidence honestly, acknowledging uncertainty when it exists, and respecting that there is rarely a single right answer for every family.
Every article we publish is guided by one question:
Will this help someone understand birth more clearly?
